Its name comes from Latin: “tussis” means cough and “ago” – to act on or to cast. Coltsfoot should be taken internally for pneumonia, bronchitis, emphysema, silicosis. When suffering from tuberculosis it helps to mild dry cough and to expectorate. Flower baskets of coltsfoot are collected as soon as they unfold. When flowers are collected later than needed, they turn into fluff and become unusable after drying. It’s recommended to collect flowers every day at the same place.

It should be noted that the effect of expectoration of coltsfoot flowers is expressed in the increasing of the tone of bronchi. Therefore it is not recommended to use coltsfoot when having asthma. It’s also not recommended to collect and consume leaves of coltsfoot, scientists have found that they may cause tumors, when taken in large doses.

Pour two tablespoons of flowers into a glass of hot water, leave for 30 minutes. Take one tablespoon 6-8 times a day.
