CORYLUS AVELLANA – Common Hazelnut.
These days everyone knows the common hazel. But not everyone knows that hazel bark can be used in the treatment of varicosity, rupture of capillaries and bleeding as a result. It can also be a nice remedy for treating inflammation of the prostate gland.
Hazel bark contains essential oils, about 10% of tannins, bioflavonoids, resins and mineral. All these substances dilate blood vessels, tone veins, strengthen capillaries and reduce inflammation in the blood vessels. Please be aware that there can be such side effects as intense work of kidneys, but if moderate doses are used it can have a positive effect and can help to reduce morning swelling.
It is said that after two months of treatment with hazel bark the blood circulation of the lower shin becomes normal, pain, squeezing sensation, swelling and cramps disappear. The color of the skin returns to normal, vascular stars and so called “spiders” disappear. The feeling of cheerfulness, and even rejuvenation arises. It should be noted that treatment with a common hazel should be long lasting.

Hazel therapy is effective in treating trophic ulcers and hemorrhoids. Hazel bark has a similar effect with the renowned remedy Hamamelis (Hamamelis virginiana). The Motherland of Hamamelis is North America, and it’s particularly common in Virginia. The appearance of hamamelis is very similar to the hazel, but it blooms in September, and the fruits resemble oak acorns.
