ABOUT ICELAND MOSS (CETRARIA ISLANDICA)

When collecting pine buds, you can stumble upon the Iceland moss (Cetraria islandica L.). Commonly found in the midst of lichens and other mosses, Iceland moss looks greener. It has rough "horns", so people often call it reindeer moss. Actually Iceland moss is a lichen, but it has the appearance of a moss, that’s why it’s called a moss. Another characteristic feature of Iceland moss is a red leg”.

HOW TO USE ICELAND MOSS

Iceland moss is one of the strongest natural antibiotics. It contains oleic acid, which kills bacteria. If you dry and grind Iceland moss, its powder can be used for the treatment of purulent wounds. A decoction of the plant is bitter. But it’s worth enduring the bitterness, as it helps to treat purulent inflammation of the kidneys, bladder, flu, bronchitis, furunculosis, and other purulent inflammations.
