What is Angelica archangelica?

Angelica archangelica or Garden Angelica is a plant that is commonly used in medicine, grocery trade and as a flavoring for liqueurs and pastry. In 16th – 17th centuries angelica herb was used with other herbs to make a special and curing drink “Carmelite water”. This drink was used to cure headaches, as an antidote to poisons, it also promoted relaxation and a long and healthy life. It was famous for its antibacterial and anti-viral properties. Roots, seeds, leaves, fruit and stems of angelica plant are used for medical purposes. This plant grows wide in Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and is cultivated in some regions of France, Germany, in south –eastern parts of Asia and in some regions of Romania.
