Flex (Linum usitatissimum) is an annual plant, which belongs to the Linum genus, Linaceae family. This plant is also known as “linseed”. It has blue flowers and brown or yellow seeds. The process of growing flaxseed began as early as 4000-2000 BC in the Mediterranean and Middle East regions. The history has some interesting evidence about the King Charlemagne, who was so excited about health benefits of flaxseed, that he imposed a law requiring people to use it.
